THANKS FOR STOPPING BY! LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF:
Teacher for 25 years (First grade through college level)
- Children's book author
- Former writing coach
- Named one of the Top 10 Teachers who inspired the Today Show in 2019
- Named an Indiana Teacher of the Year
Why you may be here:
- Is developing engaging writing lessons a challenge for you?
- Do you find that your students aren't very excited about the writing process?
- Are your students producing average writing work?
- Do you lack the time it takes to create amazing writing lessons that take writers to the next level?
Let me help you out:
I'm on sabbatical leave this year from teaching. I requested the leave to have more time for my professional writing and to develop more lesson ideas for my classroom when I return to teaching.
I've always said it would be great to have a year to sift through all of my accumulated resources, watch all of the great content out there, and plan lessons that would not only be useful for years to come, but knock my students' socks off!
So, that's what I'm doing! I'll be honest, I had hoped to do a lot of author visits during this time, but the pandemic put a pause on those for now. I'm using my time to write and to help teachers develop young writers.
I'm creating fun, ready-to-use lessons.
No teacher's edition to read through.
Not a list of prompts to throw at kids.
These are lessons with everything at your fingertips. You can listen to the gist of the lesson on your way to school or watch the video as you cook dinner. There will be mentor text recommendations, PDF downloads, suggested props, and even images of the anchor chart I would create for the lesson, if applicable.
If you want a peek at a sample of what I'm talking about, you can sign up here. I'll also give you information about a Facebook Live I'm doing to answer questions and find out what would be the most helpful as I continue to work on the lessons.
